it is magic

My trip to Hawaii is still with me and finally looking at some of the shots I did there gave me a chance to once again slip into that experience...
I return always to my basics.. water, plants, sky...it seems that despite or rather, in spite of my recent foray into shooting "working wives of westchester" I find solace in the familiar icons of the 20th century west coast photography movement and allow me to reconnect to the tradition of masters which made up that era and pay homage to those that have gone before me.
It may appear like a perfect specimen but up close there are flaws and with the techniques applied via the digital darkroom those flaws can be downplayed while the attractive qualities enhanced.
As creator, I manipulate nature to my liking, I show you what I want you to see, play into what you want to see..and just like a magician it is all slight of hand..an illusion.
